Maulana Munir-ud-Deen Shams welcomed by Jamia Principal

On February 11, 2025, the Jamia Ahmadiyya Nigeria had the distinct honor of welcoming Maulana Munir-ud-Deen Shams Sahib, a distinguished guest from the Markaz, United Kingdom. Maulana Sahib, who serves as the Managing Director of MTA International, Naib Imam of Mubarak Mosque Islamabad, and Additional Wakalat Tasneef, marked his first visit to Nigeria and, notably, to the Jamia Community.

Accompanying him was the respected Amir Sahib of Nigeria, Alhaji Barr. Abdul Azeez Folorunsho Alatoye, along with an esteemed entourage from the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at, Mr Umar Safeer (Director MTA Africa). Members of Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya extended a guard of honor to Maulana Sahib. The event was also graced by other dignitaries of the Jama’at, including Naib Amir Nigeria, Alhaji Mufadal Bankole Sahib, MTA Coordinator Nigeria Dr. Qasim Akinreti, and members of the MTA Nigeria crew.

Notably, Maulana Munir-ud-Deen Shams Sahib also hails from a noble lineage. His father, Hadrat Maulvi Jalaludeen Shams Sahib, was a devoted companion of the Promised Messiah (AS) and was honored with the title of Khalid Ahmadiyya by Hazrat Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmud Ahmad (RA), the Second Caliph of the Promised Messiah (AS).

Program Highlights

The event commenced with a recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by the chanting of an Urdu Qaseedah written by the Promised Messiah (AS), beautifully presented by the students of Jamia Ahmadiyya Nigeria.

The Principal of Jamia Ahmadiyya Nigeria officially welcomed Maulana Munir-ud-Deen Shams Sahib, acknowledging his immense contributions to the Jama’at and his unwavering obedience to Khilafat. Following this, the Amir of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Nigeria extended his heartfelt greetings and provided a brief introduction to Jamia Ahmadiyya and other institutions on the premises.

Maulana Munir-ud-Deen Shams’ Address

In his remarks, Maulana Sahib advised the Jamia students to remain mindful of their vow to Allah. He referenced Surah Aal-e-Imran, verse 105, reminding the students of their responsibility:
“And let there be from you a nation inviting to [all that is] good, enjoining what is right and forbidding what is wrong, and those will be the successful.”

He emphasized the importance of embodying this Quranic guidance, remaining steadfast in their pursuit of knowledge, and maintaining a strong connection with Huzoor Anwar (aba) through regular correspondence and prayers.

Maulana Sahib highlighted the power of prayer, quoting the Promised Messiah (AS), who said that prayer is so powerful it can move mountains. He implored the students to be prayerful and mindful of God in all their dealings, stressing that prayer is a cornerstone in the life of a missionary.

He further admonished the students to stay deeply connected with Khilafat. He urged them to:

  • Regularly write to Huzoor (aba) seeking his prayers at every stage of their lives.
  • Stay updated with the Khalifah’s sermons and programs, particularly “This Week with Huzur” on MTA, as it provides invaluable knowledge and insights.
  • Remain attentive to Huzoor’s speeches, as they offer profound wisdom that humbles even the most knowledgeable individuals.

He concluded his address by reiterating that no matter the level of one’s knowledge, there is always something to learn from the Huzur’s deep understanding and guidance.

Closing and Tour of the Premises

The program concluded with a closing prayer by Maulana Munir-ud-Deen Shams, followed by a photography session with the students and staff.
