By The Grace of Allah, Jamia Ahmadiyya Nigeria joined the rest of the nation in celebrating Nigeria’s Independence Day with a colorful and uplifting program held at the institution’s premises, on Wednesday 1st of Oct. 2025. The event was designed to instill patriotism, increase historical awareness, and remind the students of Islam’s guidance on national service.

The program commenced with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an by Yusuf Luqman, followed by a melodious rendition of Qaseedah (poem written by the Promised Messiah) by Abdur Raheem Ibraheem.

Participants then rose to their feet for the solemn rendition of the National Anthem, honoring the sacrifices of past heroes who secured the country’s independence.

A series of presentations followed. Abdul Hameed Abdul Hafeez delivered a concise but informative lecture on the History of Nigeria, highlighting the struggles and milestones that shaped the nation’s journey to freedom. This was complemented by Ishaq Abdul Majeed, who read the address of Hazrat Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmud Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih IIra on the importance of love and loyalty to one’s country.

One highlight from the address was that,
Huzoorra said:

“When [collectively] there is virtue amongst [the people of] a nation, it leaves virtuous imprints, and when [collectively] there is evil amongst [the people of] a nation, it leaves behind evil footprints.” This is to say, we should all strive towards virtue as a country, to leave virtuous imprints.

In a creative display, two Jamia students gave presentation about Nigeria. Abdul Ghaniy M. Taofeeq presented a short talk on the contributions of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at to Nigeria. He highlighted the impacts in Education, healthcare, humanitarian services and so on.

Mosaku Firdaus presented an Urdu poem written by him on Nigeria titled “Mera Watan” i.e. My Homeland.

This was followed by a lively Trivia Quiz on Nigeria, which engaged the students and tested their knowledge about the nation’s culture, history, and current affairs.

The event then featured remarks from the Principal Sahib, Hafiz Syed Shahid Ahmed sahib.

In his address, he quoted excerpts from the sayings of the Promised Messiah as. He said:

“Service to one’s nation and loyalty to the land in which one resides, is among the great moral duties… Showing loyalty to one’s government and praying for it is a religious obligation”

He advised the students to always be good citizens of their country and to always work towards its growth. He also cited from the address of His Holiness, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad aba who said:

“Every Ahmadi Muslims, wherever he resides, must be loyal to his country of residence. To cause harm to one’s nation is against the teaching of Islam” (Address of His Holiness, Jalsa UK 2008)

In conclusion, the Respected Missionary in Charge, Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Nigeria, Maulvi Adnan Tahir joined the program and gave the final address. He appreciated the school for organizing such program that inculcates patriotism and loyalty to one’s country. He said:
“Serve your country well, as it is a part of faith…”

Afterward, the Respected Missionary in Charge led the closing prayer, after which all attendees were treated to a special lunch.
